This weekend I drove up to Nashville to shoot with a sensational tattooed model named Allison Evans. I met her husband, Jay, at 13 Roses Tattoo Parlour in Atlanta a while back when shooting with some other models. Jay now works at Straight Edge Tattoo in Murfreesboro, TN. When I arrived on Friday evening, I hungout with Jay at his tattoo shop, grabbed some dinner at Hooters and then drove up to Nashville to hangout with Allie. We went out to downtown Nashville to listen to some music and have a couple drinks. If you like Rockabilly, Country and/or Bluegrass music, the Nashville bar scene is the best there is. I had a blast there!
When I got up Saturday morning, as I was getting ready for our shoot, I checked my camera to format my memory card. The LCD on the camera wouldn’t turn on. I started getting some anxiety and a bit upset that this would happen at this specific point. I believe some moisture from the high humidity got in between the screen protector and LCD and crept into the LCD, thus shorting the signals to turn on the LCD. Because of all of this, I then had to tell Allie and try to figure out what to do about it. She asked a bunch of her photographer friends, and low and behold, her friend Allen Manus was able and kind enough to lend me his extra Canon 20D for the weekend. I was so thankful for that.
Allie and I went to pick up the camera to shoot with and stayed in Murfreesboro for our first set of our shoot. We decided to shoot a Trophy Wife, Alternative Housewife themed shoot on some tennis courts. It was hotter than 2 rats messin around in a wool sock. Luckily we had some shade to use for a bunch of the shots. We got some really great images from that set, too. After shooting our first set, we mozied on over to Toot’s to grab a beer and some lunch. It was so good; it was definitely nice to sip on some cold beer after being outdoors in the 100-degree heat for a couple hours. After lunch, we went back to Allie’s house, and we both crashed for a little while. Allie picked up her kids and cooked some incredibly delicious penne with homemade tomato sauce. Even though she’s a chef, and you’d expect the food to be good, it was still great! After dinner, we went into her front yard to shoot our 2nd set for the day, a sexy Cowgirl set.
We took it easy all day Sunday, after going to breakfast at a local place called Mallard’s Restaurant. I decided to leave Nashville around 2 pm. The only thing really exciting about the rest of my day was that I ate dinner at Sugar’s Ribs in Chattanooga, which is one of the best BBQ joints in all of Tennessee. They have a great Tennessee sweet sauce, as well as a great Carolina Red Sauce. What a weekend!

After work, I drove over to the small town of Good Hope, Georgia to shoot for the second time with Laura, this time on her farm. She was running late, and I wasn’t in any rush whatsoever, so our first set was shot while the sun was setting. It was gorgeous. I normally don’t like to stop shooting photos anyways, but this time for sure I couldn’t stop shooting because it was so breathtakingly beautiful out. As you can see from the photos, the sky was filled with blue, purple, pink, orange, and yellow colors. We then shot the rest of the sets from inside their newer barn that held a couple horses. It sure was hot and humid, and we even shot mostly after sunset; however, it was well worth it. We got some amazing photos.

Tonight, I was finally able to coordinate a date to shoot with MUA Amber and a couple of her friends. We shot at my friend Mark’s high-rise condo located in Buckhead. Neither one of the girls had modeled before, but in my opinion they both did a fantastic job. We definitely got some cool, new and different images. It was fun, and I look forward to shooting with Brandy and Jade again soon.

Today I met with Nina and our friend Ashley Croft at Dent Doctor in Macon, Georgia to shoot with some old cars in their body shop. While it must’ve been 90 degrees outside, it was just as hot or even hotter inside. We shot some neat pinup shots with a motorcycle, a Ford Galaxy, a 1970s Corvette, and in the paint room.

This morning I met with fellow photographer, Kat, at a Collins Auto Salvage, Inc up in Auburn, Georgia. We’ve been talking about shooting for a little while now; we had set up this shoot a while back, but weather made us postpone the shoot the first time. This time, the weather was fantastic! Besides all the mosquitoes in the first set, the weather was warm, sunny and had plenty of color and clouds in the sky. During the middle of the first set, one of the employees from the junkyard decided to take a smoke break and watch us at work; actually, he was probably watching Kat at work (not me). Over the next couple hours, he would continue taking his smoke breaks and walking over to where we were shooting. The guy was as nice as can be, and while every time he came over, we thought he’d start getting creepy, he would suggest things like, “Y’all should go check out the saw mill at the back of the property.” So, after shooting inside the van for a little bit, we decided to go out there and shoot with some older, more classic junk cars. All in all, we had a blast and will definitely be going back there soon to shoot again.

This evening I had the pleasure of shooting with a gorgeous, heavily tattooed woman with whom I had never shot before. We had a great time, a lot of fun, and got some incredible shots. Laura is a horseback rider by day and lives on a farm. She’s been raising, training and riding horses since she was little. Our next shoot will be done at her farm with a country, cowgirl theme, I believe.

I had recently been contacted by Kelly to do a shoot after she saw the shots that Melissa and I took a few weeks ago. I had an opening due to a couple cancellations, and Kelly got in touch with me and asked if we could shoot today. Kelly brought her friend Ashlee along to join us and get some shots taken of her as well. They both did a great job. It was a pleasure working with them. I do have to say that wow, it was hot outside. We shot mostly under shelter, as it was nearly too hot to shoot out in the direct sunlight.

Tonight, I shot with Rachel, one of Mindy’s friends, for our first shoot together. We shot at Mindy’s and my friend Cameron’s place. We shot up on the rooftop for a while and then had a slight altercation with another resident while shooting up there. Therefore, we moved down to the pool area. Thank goodness we moved down there because the sunset was gorgeous.

Today’s shoot at Moore’s Hot Rods in Dallas, Georgia was a collaboration of ideas with Sonny Farmer (owner of the 1956 Belair used in the shoot), BillieJo Garcia (MUAH) and myself. Tommy Moore of Moore’s Hot Rods so graciously allowed us to shoot at his shop for a good 6 hours or so while the shop wasn’t even open. The two lovely ladies who modeled for us were Kaley Luxe and Rebe.
