I always look forward to the opportunity to shoot with Miss Voodoo Valentine.  This was my 2nd shoot with her, but the 3rd time going to visit her up in Nashville.  It was good to see her, her 2 kids, and her husband that weekend.  While I shot on Saturday with 2 others, I shot on Sunday with her at her friend’s house.  We shot a Valentine-themed set first with a pink wall, a tutu made by Victoria Wilson of Hypnotic Designs and a candy-heart bra designed by Miss Voodoo Valentine herself.  After shooting that set, we shot some promo shots for Dirty Rotten Rides with a couple of their tank tops.  Lastly, we shot with a 1955 Thunderbird in the driveway out back of the house.

This afternoon and evening I met up with Luci Furr and shot in Printer’s Alley in downtown Nashville, as well as a graffiti wall outside of Nashville.  Shooting in Printer’s Alley was pretty fun; I did not think it would be that easy to just set everything up and start shooting without any problems whatsoever.  We had a few spectators during the time we were there, as well.  After shooting there, we drove down to an area with a long graffiti wall.  We shot some cool artistic shots there, as opposed to some more pinup-esque shots in Printer’s Alley.

I drove up to Nashville for the weekend to shoot with 3 different people.  Up first was Moxie Mantrap and our Femme Fatale/Film Noir themed shoot.  There is quite a funny story to go along with this one.  We originally set up to shoot at a really cheap motel outside of Nashville that would’ve cost $25 for a 3-hour time period.  We arrived, checked in, paid and then began to unload our stuff into the hotel room to shoot.  As soon as I started unloading my car, one of the owners of the hotel came running over and looking at my weird, asking what “all this stuff is.”  I said it’s photography equipment, and we’re taking some pictures.  He immediately responded (in a thick Indian accent), “No, no video! No video!” to which Moxie and I both responded, “haha, we’re taking pictures, not video.”  The owner stayed firm and told us that he would refund our money and asked us to leave the property at that point.  He obviously thought we were shooting pornography, even though we tried explaining to him that we weren’t doing anything close to that at all.

After that, we went on and drove to another hotel, paid and shot there for a few hours.  We got some great shots, as well.  Enjoy.

Tonight I’m shooting photos for Lauren Kraselsky of The Quick and Dirty Dirty for her Birthday EZ/LK 3.0 Launch Party held at the Livingston Bar and Restaurant at The Georgian Terrace.

Photos from the party will be posted by Monday evening in a gallery located at http://jonruby.zenfolio.com/ez-lk-30.

I’ve been trying to find the right person to shoot with at this music recording studio I know of up in North Atlanta.  I finally found the perfect girl for the shoot, Kailyn.  She was a pleasure to shoot with.  Even though it took both of us over an hour to get there, we both know it was well worth our time.  We ended up shooting about 4 outfits in all, using the entire studio to our advantage.  The studio is unbelievably cool and very modern with its colors and setting.  I will definitely be going back there to shoot.  Let me know if you’d be interested in shooting there, and we’ll be sure to set something up.

This evening I went back to Laura’s house to shoot some Christmas photos for her and her boyfriend.  We took some cool shots in her bedroom, where we’ve never shot photos, even though I’ve shot at her house about 5 or 6 times previously.  We also shot some nice, sexy and relaxing shots in front or and next to her Christmas trees.  After the shoot, she gave me some Chocolate turtles to take home.  Her family owns a pecan farm in south Georgia, and they sell their pecans to this company that then makes the turtles.  The turtles are delicious.

“Pinup Picnic in the Park” – March 12th

Famed MUAH Cherry Dame and I are teaming up for a 3rd time for “Pinup Picnic in the Park” photoshoot on March 12, 2011 in Atlanta, Ga.  We’re shooting a picnic theme which could include a classic car/truck, a picnic table, a picnic checkered blanket and any and all accompanying accessories that make for a good vintage-themed picnic.  Please send me an email at Jon@jonruby.com for more information and booking.

Today, I had the pleasure of shooting with Katie.  She is absolutely gorgeous but more important, she’s such a nice and good person.  We were able to go back to my friend Mark’s condo in Buckhead that overlooks all of Buckhead from his penthouse balcony.  We shot half of the photos in the 2 showers due to the cool, modern look of the bath tiles.  We shot some lingerie, some biknis and some more casual outfits during the shoot.

This evening, I finally had the pleasure to shoot with a girl that’s been in the making for probably 6-9 months now.  Shannon and I finally got the chance to shoot together, and I wish it hadn’t been so long because she was a pleasure to shoot with.  I will definitely be shooting with her again soon.  We shot photos after hours at Ink & Dagger Tattoo Parlour in Decatur, Ga.  The makeup was done by Chrissie Simmons, and the hair was done by Holly Wood of Team Luxe.
